Soprano Emma Morwood will open Kirkcudbright’s Festival of Light, accompanied by Jonathan Fisher, as part of the curated programme. The programme will focus on the theme of light and will be open and accessible, inviting audiences to engage with art song, lieder and contemporary music. Tickets: £15 (£5 concessions). Born in Belfast, Emma Morwood studied at the University of Edinburgh and the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM). Emma was a major award winner at the RNCM, including the Dame Eva Turner Award and the Claire Croiza Prize for French Song and, since graduating, has worked with many of Europe’s finest orchestras and conductors.

Jonathan Fisher is a pianist of great versatility. A graduate of both The University of Huddersfield and The Royal Northern College of music, his passion lies in making music with other people. He works with instrumentalists, singers and chamber groups, covering a huge spectrum of repertoire from the early baroque to the present day.
